Black Lives Matter: Join Us In Continuing The Conversation
June 26, 2020
We’re Committed To Being A Part Of The Solution.
What happened to George Floyd, and countless other people of color, is horrific. We want to work with you on how we can educate ourselves and better educate those around us to stand up and speak out.
Our learning process starts with you. Together, we can be better allies for the black community and people of color. While we have already begun to make strides, we want to continue to collaborate on how we can do better!
LET’S TAKE ACTION
LIVELY is committed to being a part of the solution by sharing voices, resources, and ways to take ongoing action. Join us!
1. Conversations and Education
We are having tough but necessary conversations daily, allowing us to hear different perspectives, share experiences and emotions, and to become more familiar with talking about things that would typically make us feel uncomfortable. Here are some great resources to help you initiate:
Books:
White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo, Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, So You Want To Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo
TV:
13th on Netflix, The Hate You Give on Hulu, American Son on Netflix, Dear White People on Netflix
Podcasts:

2. Lifting Up Our Community Voices
We pledge to amplify our community’s voices & stories to educate, learn, and grow with one another. We look forward to having fireside chats, conversations, and digital meetups. We also have plans in the works to offer up our platform to black women in our community who want to share and amplify their voice.
Here's are only a few of the many incredible women in our crew you should follow and get to know :)
Shantal Martin @hairaconda, Jhordan Elenitsa Munn @jay_munn, Whitney Madueke @whitneymadueke, Ashley Griffin @theinspiredeye
3. Spotlighting Black-Owned Businesses
Here are a few incredible brands we love that you should follow and support :)
Uoma Beauty, Golde, Briogeo, Hyper Skin
4. How We're Donating
To make an effective impact now, we have donated to the NAACP and SoGal’s Black Female Founder Start-Up Grant Program (learn more or apply here)!
We are also launching a donation matching program for our internal team where we will match 100% of their donations to organizations of their choice.
As we take this time to learn, educate, act, and share -- we encourage you to do the same! If you are supporting causes, using your voice, or pledging to take actions - please share with us! We want to learn from you :)
We plan to keep this conversation going and keeping ourselves accountable, not just today, but as long as there is still injustice in the world. #blacklivesmatter
